Its an undisputed fact that over the past few years the USG camp have emerged as one of the most talented and influential units within the UK rap game, both in terms for their consistent output and also in the high quality of the music. To further enforce their legacy as some of the UK's finest Exo has dropped the Epic street album/mixtape 'Power of the pound' which I can safely say is one of better mixtapes to be released this year in terms of topics, beats and overall sound as Exo has managed to channel a lot of his thought and emotion into this as well as picking some of the hottest instrumentals and guest spots which work well.
Starting off with the hardbody street banger 'Ride out' featuring fellow USG comrade Squingy and rolling straight into the epic Shotta rap track 'Juggle on the block' featuring hot verses from K Koke and Castro from D-Fam and then we are taken into Exo's world with the Emotional 'Wash my face' featuring Butch and finds Exo spitting bars like ("I build a spliff, pour a drink and think, how they got my whole team on tap like a sink,Stress can take you under and I'm standing on the brink, middle finger got my trigger bang to the world, every breath I take is dedication to my girls, everything I do is for them and not myself, cos they rely on Dad depend on me for the world")
Other tracks to look out for are the Explosive 'ALL IN' featuring the entire A team slaying the Fat Joe Slow down beat and even a hot verse from French rapper Sid yusuff 'Born in the Struggle see's by Menace,French and Miski joined by Exo who spits brutally honest and heartfelt rhymes ("I remember when Fam there were Ants in my food, ghetto ants on the tracks every where in the room, its disgusting but fuck it I was rushed in,while they were going school - was bunking, trying to get my funds in,stinking skunk kid,and even then,Looking out for my friends")
Check Exo's hood playfulness with the rock inspired instrumental which finds Exo rhyming about the adventures of a shotta with his bike.
Power of the pound runs through a wide range of topics from regular road business to Exos love for Mary Jane on the excellent 'Stuck 2 you' but its the compelling 'So Real' which sets Exo above many others as he speaks to his incarcerated cousin through the track.
Though the entire USG camp aren't around at the moment it will be good to hear them all together as the last track of the Mixtape will have you thinking as Exo closes the show Hard with Squingy and K Koke all spitting gutter over a double timed beat with each artist showing why they have become so rated in the game 'Over' will have you finding for the USG album which is coming soon.
Power of the Pound is only a pound but in all honstey is a definite £5-£7 job as it doesn't contain any weak or half hearted tracks nothing but good music for the streets from the streets "Support what's yours"
Power of the Pound is a Solid 9.5 be sure to grab it asap!
