REVIEW - LIONESS - ROARNESS (MIXTAPE)

Anyone who's anyone will know that Lioness hasn't been playing around and since the release of All black winterness Lioness has shown a hunger to take the respect she deserves both in terms of her constantly remaining innovative and her work rate although Lochness Monster was a banger of a mixtape Roarness is a lot better when it comes to lyricism and beat selection clearly showing her development as an MC who is now Clearly in Artist territory.
Starting off with the neck snapping Bomb Lioness wastes no time letting you know what sort of party it is with her dropping pure lyrical bombs all over the track delivered with an absolute grade A flow which she shows she's mastered thoroughly dropping hard bars throughout the track and asserting her spot at the top with lines like

("I'm gonna let you know that, I've got explosives, you'll go up in smoke if you ain't prepared ,or you try and approach this,I don't care detonation process,No one gets spared ,I move corrosive,Nuclear flare, come in high doses, and I will tear what ever gets thrown in my way,I'm ferocious, better take notice babe")
From there Lioness leads us through to Mona Lisa a track which reinforces her dominance as one of the UKs Premier female MC with Lioness dropping some harsh bars and metaphor's and punchlines oved the digaital but Rock inspired instrumental.
Bad see's Lioness hooking up with her 367 sisters Amplify Dot and Lady Leshurr for this extremely impressive Ragga inspired Hiphop track which sees all MC's holding it down and is a good taste of what's to come from them in the future.
One of Lionesses main strengths is her ability to paint mental pictures with her words and this is exemplified on tracks like Default ft Slick Vic which sees Her talking about a past relationship and All you need ft A.L which sees her in seduction mode as well as Shut it down which is another hot seductive Hip Hop track and is one for lovers.
For the Dubstep fans there is the rebellious anthem Don't tell me which works well and sees Lioness dropping harsh lyrics over a mental dubstep beat matching it perfectly with her content and Flow as well as holding down the vocals on the chorus.
Not one to turn her back on her Grime roots the track Set the girl which features Ghetts will have many a rave shut down with its raw and infectious instrumental which Lioness and Ghetts completely destroy with Hard bars flowed perfectly and Lioness holds her own against the Grime veteran with some seriously raw and uncut lines like
("I am a Lion you man are chiefs,Fuck your riots, you live on the streets,I live in the Jungle, one call then I'm there Humble, but I swear I cause a lot of fear, work rates low but I clear, the whole scene call me a Queen when I'm here, and I ain't Louboutines but I see red when I think about me at the bottom, and I'll dead any one that has clearly forgotten, that I shred when I'm on the mic 8 bar hot em")

Two of the deepest and most touching tracks on Roarness have to be Floating on Clouds which sees Lioness recounting a forbidden Love of yesteryear and Make it through which see's Lioness dropping heartfelt lyricim and heart touching bars like("My name holds more weight than it did before, that's a good sign I just need to push it more, and some say that work rates the most important thing,I agree but believe its about the talent in the individual, and what they bring,I don't wanna be a spectacle of what's already been done, with what people think, some think they know it all ,so they add their 2pence just to cop a call ,when things start to pop off ,these clowns are comical ,them fe get lock off")
With Roarness Lioness has proven She has what it takes to make it to the Top as She is not only a fierce lyricist but a skilled songwriter as well as one of the few UK Artists to bring out mixtapes which can be played right through and this is definitely one with no fast forwards every track bangs!
10/10
"No disrespect to no one but Roarness might just be the best mixtape from any Female MC  in the UK this year,Handsdown ! - Grime Report
