REVIEW - MAXSTA - THE COME UP MIXTAPE

Its been a few years since Maxsta was introduced to the Grime scene by Wiley along with a 'new wave' of Grime MC's but unlike many of the others whom were brought through to represent the future of the scene this Eastham representative is one of the few still standing and sounding strong.
After the release of his debut, the extremely popular 'The Maxtape' as well as ripping to bits a few features on other Artists projects he releases 'The come up' and its as hot as you'd expect as Maxsta doesn't play around when it comes to intricately putting together his Bars and his delivery and flow are definitely above average with him displaying throughout on this mixtape with some Hard Grime as well as some top quality hiphop tracks.
Maxsta's main appeal is his honesty and keeps it real on this not pretending to be anything he's not just an average 18 year old from East London check out the way he explains his entrance to the Grime scene 'Max' with lines like("Logan's show made me late for school on a tuesday morning,so I had to run like Rev,Beckham and Usain all in!") As well as some words that Chipmunk won't be too happy about as he exposes him over a dubstep inspired grime instrumental.
'Come on' feat is a hot slice of hip hop showing his versatility as he spits some clever wordplay ("I keep it normal like school shoes in autumn please don't try and say I never schooled kids I taught em")
Maxsta is comfortable over most instrumentals and clearly has pop sensibilities without sounding desperate as tracks like 'Hooked on you' and 'Bring it Max' could both be chart tracks as well as hot on the streets but Grime is where he really flourishes with tracks like 'My gift' feat Skarez is a Grime Banger ("Last year I was the kid without credit now I got a thing that's fresh out of leggings")
Also check out the Teeza produced 'Wasteman corner' and the Excellent Z.dot produced 'Fire Bars' ft Doller Da Dustman & Big Shiz with all Mc's going in on the minimalist Grime beat.
'The come up' shows how much talent and originality Maxsta brings to the game plus he sounds like he's having fun with the music which is something missing. 2011 will definitely be his year but for now this will keep you goingm
'The come up' shows Maxtas came up 9/10
