Lowkey Ft. Mai Khalil - Ahmed [Official Music Video]

In an almost out of the blue move, One of UK Raps most revered artists Lowkey has made his return to the musical battlefront and returned in style with Ahmed which features his long time collaborator Mai Khalil and it's a politically driven UK Rap track which is laced with nothing but the truth and is a piece of much needed social commentary with all the bullshit happening around the world at the moment.

Good to have you back Fam!

UK Rapper Lowkey Quits Music

One of the UK's most popular Rap Artists and Political Activist Lowkey has announced today that he will be stepping away from Music and in a message via his Facebook account has also said he will be de activating his account just like he did his twitter account.
Many of his fans are upset by this news an the internet has been flooded with messages asking him to re consider but as someone who knows him personally I can say he won't, as once he has made up his mind that's it.
Having watched Lowkey grow from his days at Deal Real until now I can say that his development and growth have been phenomenal and I can only wish him the best.

“After many months of contemplation I have decided to step away from music and concentrate on my studies. Maybe at some point I will get back into it again but at this stage I feel I should direct my energy in different, more helpful directions. The ego is a destructive thing and I feel this business and these social networks in particular have a tendency to feed it in an unhealthy way. I will be decactivating this page. Thank you for all those who have supported me over the years. See you on the other side people.” - Lowkey Via  Facebook

MTV - Best Of The Best UK MC’s 2011 - Part 1

MTV Base have just released part 1 of their Best Of the Best UK MC's 2011 list and while this list seems to be a lot more better constructed and insightful than their last offering I am sure there will be a lot of Grime and UK Rap fans who will question some of the comments and choices made by the panel which is comprised of Charlie Sloth,JP Patterson,Hyper Frank,Posty,Morgan Keyz and Nadine Scott.

A few things which stood out to me initially are:
1.Skepta dropping from last years number 3 to this year's Number 8 MC
2.Lowkey receiving a Number 7 placement although he has Toured,Recorded and sold more Music than half of the MC's on the list and his fan base is one of the strongest in the UK
3.Ghetts receiving a Number 6 placement although his work rate and quality of tracks from 2010 - 2011 has been outstanding to say the least.
It was good to see Artists like Blade Brown,DVS and Krept and Konan receive recognition on this years list.

What are your thoughts on the List this year,Which artists were missing from the list,Is this list relevant? Remember this is a list which Tinie Tempah and Dizzee Rascal were 1 & 2 last year with an absence of Wretch 32 and many more.

Watch the video here.

In reply to Lowkey's Scathing Diss track 'Top 1 selected'  Ghetts & Devlin took to U Stream to discuss the track with Ghetts questioning why it took him a week to drop 1 reply as well as calling his gassed and mocking his diss track to Chipmunk and dropping some bars on Lowkey

LOWKEY - TOP 1 SELECTED

After the MTV BASE - Best of the Best UK MC 2010 list Ghetts was very vocal about his views on the list and mentioned Lowkey in his scathing diss track 'Whos on the panel'  where Ghetts accused Lowkey of having "Someone on the inside" and that leads us up to this 'Top1 Selected' From Lowkey in which he uses Ghetts 'Top 3 Selected' Grime instrumental to respond to all involved and although not completely as direct as Ghetts,Lowkey does drop a few harsh words on him
("Top 3 Selected you yeah you was hot then, but what now when you can't make top ten ?") before going on to question how he's an artist who recieve's no mainstream radio exposure from Westwood,Logan,or Mr JAM and the only DJ who plays his music is Charle Sloth (Who was the only guy who was backing ghetts on the MTV Base Top Ten panel.
Is Lowkey right,Is this a decent reply to Ghetts,Is this even a diss track? Let me know what you think.
Look out for new material from both Lowkey and Ghetts coming soon.
