Culture Minister Claims To Be Big Fan Of Skepta - But Can't Name ANY Of His Tracks (News)

The Tory MP, gushed about the grime star’s “go-getting nature” and said he listened to his music in the ministerial motor.

Culture Minister Matt Hancock claimed he was a big fan of Mercury Prize winner Skepta – but couldn’t name any of his tracks.

The Tory, 37, gushed about the grime star’s “go-getting nature” and said he listened to his music in the ministerial motor.

But asked to name his favourite track, he turned to his aide, saying: “Jonathan, help me out here.” The aide said: “Shutdown.”
Mr Hancock, responsible for digital policy at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, added: “He tells a story of his background, but the thing that excites me is he can break through.

“I don’t like to wallow in poverty. I think wherever you come from, you can make it."

Skepta Talks Drake's 'Boy Better Know' Affiliation [Video]

Back in February, Drake caused a stir after posting on Instagram that he was the "first Canadian signed to Boy Better Know." Considering Drake is still releasing music through his deal with Young Money, many fans were confused by the prospect of him signing to Skepta's relatively small, UK-based grime label.

After months of silence on the subject, Skepta attempted to provide some clarity about Drake's original comments in an interview with Time Out London. "We’re putting together an official worldwide BBK label," he said, "but we haven’t talked about how it’ll work yet. It’ll be separate to his existing contracts. Trust me, I am not gonna sue Lil Wayne."
