UK Rapper Lowkey Quits Music

One of the UK's most popular Rap Artists and Political Activist Lowkey has announced today that he will be stepping away from Music and in a message via his Facebook account has also said he will be de activating his account just like he did his twitter account.
Many of his fans are upset by this news an the internet has been flooded with messages asking him to re consider but as someone who knows him personally I can say he won't, as once he has made up his mind that's it.
Having watched Lowkey grow from his days at Deal Real until now I can say that his development and growth have been phenomenal and I can only wish him the best.

After many months of contemplation I have decided to step away from music and concentrate on my studies. Maybe at some point I will get back into it again but at this stage I feel I should direct my energy in different, more helpful directions. The ego is a destructive thing and I feel this business and these social networks in particular have a tendency to feed it in an unhealthy way. I will be decactivating this page. Thank you for all those who have supported me over the years. See you on the other side people.” - Lowkey Via  Facebook

  2. It's extremely sad to hear Lowkey has quit of course, great talent...and he woke alot of people up through his music. Saying that, we're in critical times, and if he can help wake the masses up i wish him all the best. Ego suppresses the mind, everything is one :)

  9. I think that Lowkey quit because his message that was delivered through his lyrics touched hundreds of thousand of the youth population. He was a positive catalyst that fed change into communities through his music. The government had him on strict surveillance, hence why his house was raided and certain material confiscated with no apparent reason.

OMG i cant believe lowkey quit. Im 12 year old iraqi girl and i love his music sooooo much and i would give anything for lowkey to come back. I personally think that the government threatened his family coz in one of the interview he sed that he is working on a new album and in his songs he has always sed that he would rap and fight till his death. I wish lowkey all the best and i hope that he comes back. Respect here from london.

    1. I agree with you 100%. I am a new fan of a few days ago. My son who didnt know of his retirement introduced me to his music after I was deleted from another musicians website by the name of Ben Harper whom I had been a loyal fan of for over 7 years. They just deleted my profile because I didnt post a picture relevant to him. I listen to Lowkey now even though he is gone. God bless.

  24. I am a new fan as of recently. I can totally understand his decision to vacate. Look @ history. We are living in hell on earth and we never had freedom of speech because we are not free. It becomes a spiritual walk even if we try not to do so. Just dont get wrapped up to material things now. We have to learn how to let them go. The physical things of this world wont last. Things that pertain to our spirituality on that righteous path will remain forever etched in time. At least come back and bring us some of your poetry lowkey. You can still have a voice. Fight. We all need each other now. Forget about things that dont really matter and let your true purpose be revealed. You were never driven by hatred only love and that is why your contribution is alive and well. The truth can only be repeated. Its not like you were telling lies. Never altering the truth. You just put a voice on the truth. Where is the crime? It will still be the truth even after you have gone. Look around and see your Creator. Your maker. The Great Father who created you and I. He shall get the glory of your plight and it is He and only He whom shall have the last word. Allah.
