R.I.P HMV (1921 - 2013)

Last night it was announced that the latest casualty of the recession is HMV who have been struggling over the past few years but finally had to declare themselves as going into administrator-ship (They're Broke) meaning that like Woolworths, Jessops and many other UK Businesses they too will soon become a distant memory although to many of todays I-tunes generation they never existed in the first place and this is one of the major reasons they are in the position they are in.
Its a known fact that Asda,Tesco's and Morrissons are the major players when it comes to CD and DVD sales with HMV steadily loosing ground as digital sales took over from physical sales and in a vain effort to counter this HMV took to concentrating on sales of accessories and music players (instead of their concentrating on Music) with many of the stores operating as cinemas playing re runs of classic films (instead of concentrating on Music)
HMV's overall failure to engage with the youth is probably their biggest downfall as Music is a youth culture, They could have seen this in the demise of other Music retailers before them such as Our price, Virgin records and Tower records who all  had similar fates due to their inability to understand the shift in the way consumers not only purchased new music but but also what music trends were outside of commercial releases (How many times did you go into a HMV store only to be told they had to order in a CD for you)
in today's world of instant gratification that just couldn't last.
I can't say I will be sad to see the back of HMV as they were another old Dinosaur trying to do things the old way in new times.

Bigz - interview - Future Plans,Collaborations,Dappy & More [video]

Bigz recently performed at HMV's Next Big Thing showcase and after tearing it down stopped for a quick interview with Libby from District1Tv in which he talks about what his future plans are and talks collaborations and a message for Dappy.

POW 2011 - LETHAL B ft GRIME ALL STARS - AVAILABLE 20TH FEBRUARY 2011

One of the talking points of 2010 was definitely Lethal B's remix of the Classic Grime track 'Pow' with him settling for JME,Wiley,Chipmunk,Face,P Money,Ghetts & Kano aka The Grime Allstars for the 2011 revisit after much fanfare over who would make the final cut on the Teddy Silencer produced remix,There was Maxsta and Chipmunk Fiasco as well as the whole Jammer and Lethal B episode and then there was the  video which dropped about a month after its first airing on radio with all MC's present for the video shoot except the elusive Wiley and almost a month after the video has been out the track has finally been released and Im not sure it is a good thing to leave such a big release so late in this day and age when consumers and listeners have a tendancy to see something which was released a week ago as old but then again it might just work out for them any how th track is available now for pre order for 79p from HMV 

SUPPORT WHATS YOURS!!

I was on Twitter yesterday and noticed the amount of UK Artists and sites Tweeting about Lil Wayne being released from jail like he was some sort of relative or friend they knew, now not to knock any US Artists but I can't see a lot of mutual appreciation from most of them with the odd exception and personally I don't even cover what US Artists are doing unless they are in the UK and working with UK Artists.
If we don't support what ours but choose to support what's not where's the future in the whole UK scene?
 If you like a UK Artists music support them by at least buying their Mix tape or Album!
Please stop thinking that  Kanye West,Lil Wayne,Jay Z,50 Cent or Drake care about the UK,Our scene or any UK fans? They don't!! Most US Artists I've spoken to can't name anyone when I ask them who they listen to in the UK yet they are happy as a muthafucker to come over and perform when the Pound was worth Two Dollars!
Anyhow a word is enough for the wise.
